This autumn, Alex Brooks Furniture and a collection of tree slice tables will join eleven other talented artists and makers at the “Ever Present” exhibition in Lyme Regis. The show runs from Monday 27th October to Wednesday 5th November 2025 at the Malthouse Gallery, Town Mill Courtyard, Lyme Regis (DT7 3PD). The gallery is open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Curator Alison Shelton Brown has hand-picked each exhibitor for their craftsmanship and creativity. Together, they’ll showcase a beautiful mix of high-quality gifts, artworks, and design pieces. With prices to suit different budgets, the exhibition offers the perfect chance to find unique, meaningful gifts before Christmas.

Our Furniture:

Alex Brooks creates bespoke furniture from locally sourced, weather-damaged wood, transforming each piece into something extraordinary. His tree slice tables reveal natural patterns that look like miniature universes polished into being. These are true statement pieces for modern homes.

Each piece Alex creates begins with a respect for the natural form of the wood. Rather than working against its shape, he allows the tree to guide the design, celebrating knots, markings, and irregular edges that tell a quiet story of place and time. Visitors to the Ever Present exhibition will be able to see this approach up close – the contrast of smooth polish and organic texture, the way light moves across each grain. It’s a chance to connect with craftsmanship that feels honest, grounded and beautifully individual.
