The natural and applied wood finishes exhibited across the furniture collections in our portfolio include:
Spalted
Spalting is a much sought after form of distinctive wood colouration & patterns caused by fungi. Unique to spalted wood are the contrasting light & dark colours not normally found in timber. Rather than a subtle colouring, some of the woodgrain is pronounced in black, white, brown & grey tones. Like fingerprints, each piece of spalted wood is unique.
Weathered
Weathered wood, put simply, is wood that has been affected by exposure to the weather. Transformed over time by the elements, the result is an incredible display of character & beautiful imperfections, as nature intended.
Charred
Charring the surface of the wood gives a deep & even burn, resulting in a unique texture & stunning aesthetic. Through this finishing process the wood hardens & becomes weather & decay resistant, making it durable.
Painted
The Inlaid collection features natural wood framed by a coloured textured finish. The paint finish, called “Iron Blue”, involves a build-up of paint and a process that results in a distressed look, to compliment the organic timber tops and the mild steel legs. ‘Iron Blue’ was chosen to enhance the darker colours within spalting and contrast with the light colours of the timber.
